A Mixtape for John Waters

John Waters has been called many things: low-brow, tacky, crazy, weird, campy, and most befittingly, the “Pope of Trash.” All of which are terms of endearment for the man who has been popping in and out of the world’s collective unconsciousness, with his iconic pencil mustache, dapper style, and 50 years of wonderfully campy film. From Pink Flamingos to Cry Baby, Waters has taught his audience to embrace the weird and forget everything your parents ever told you. He is a person who has taught generations to be themselves, especially if that means being an outcast. So we decided to put together a playlist befitting of such a genius. It’s a mix of songs he loves, songs he has used on his films, songs made by musicians who starred in his films, and songs that just feel like John Waters.
