Desire presents the video for “Cold As Ice,” the fourth single off her upcoming record Escape. Embellished with melodramatic bells and rising synths, “Cold As Ice” showcases Desire’s ambitions towards a world of love and second chances. Singing, “Isn’t It Nice / Rolling The Dice / I’m Throwing Them Twice For You / When My Fever Breaks / I’m Cold As Ice Like You,” Desire (aka Megan Louise) is letting us know that she knows what the outcome is regardless of the rules of the games. “Hate Is Still Hate Now / Lovers Still Love,” she sings. The video was written and directed by Johnny Jewel, starring Louise as our protagonist and host against almost obsessive imagery of fiery chess pieces and thunder itself — all while Louise flashes (mostly in slow motion) her crimson manicure, stylish uniform, and almost robotic choreography. “Cold As Ice” moves a step away from the dance utopia presented in the first single of the upcoming release, aptly named “Escape”, or even the single “Liquid Dreams”. Both paths lead the way for “Cold As Ice” to be a turning point in the sound of Desire with various elements conjured cohesively in the name of dream-synth pop.
