Listen: Acid Dad “Grim”

Author: Jackie Green

‘Grim’ is the new single from New York’s psych-punk four piece, Acid Dad. The track begins with a lengthy intro – soft, inviting vocals, descending in half steps consequently build suspense. Vaughn’s vocals supported by a simple, foot-tapping rhythm from the low end can only be described as a synesthesia. The carefully balanced vocals and instrumentation not only build suspense, but drape an aura of mysteriousness over your body as it clings tightly to the beat.

Next, the smooth low-key calm of the intro is smashed to pieces, as the song brings the rest of the band in to party. From there, the party sustains its momentum while weaving in and out of rhythmic patterns and instrumental configurations eliminating the possibility for any boredom.

Well done, boys. Looking forward to what’s next. Listen to ‘Grim’ below.
