After releasing their mind-blowing debut full-length, Psychic, late last year, Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington’s collaborative project DARKSIDE is already calling it quits. The duo took to their website to reveal that the band is “coming to an end, for now” and announce their final live show at Brooklyn’s Masonic Temple on September 12. Having seen them perform at Terminal 5 back in February, this farewell show is not one to miss.
They also let go of two unreleased tracks, “What They Say” and the aptly-titled “Gone Too Soon,” both set to appear on Jaar’s forthcoming WORK compilation via his Other People serial label. The latter is a throbbing, experimental dance piece that builds on Harrington’s signature guitar work as Jaar slyly croons, “Gone too soon.” The end of the track approaches Pink Floyd territory as strings and percussion create a swirling sense of space that is unmistakably DARKSIDE.
