Listen: Epoxy “CIVILIANS!”

NYC screamo trio Epoxy’s new album CIVILIANS! is out now. Reminiscent of late ’90s and early 2000s emo, Alec Publicover (guitar, vocals), Ben Leach (drums), and Cashel O’Malley (bass) deliver a debut that packs a punch. Initially inspired by the “pure energy” of emoviolence, CIVILIANS! finds Epoxy playing with space and restraint. The album pushes, it pulls—more than anything, it moves. Epoxy brings both breath and edge to their craft.

Several tracks on CIVILIANS!ihaveseenitend, oceans became battlefields, Superexploder, and Song 2—may sound familiar, having been released individually throughout 2024 and 2025. But the singles hit harder in sequence, resonating more deeply within the album’s full arc. New tracks like Poor Command offer contrast to the distortion-drenched chaos of Song 2 and Crib Master (Wooden Giant), helping shape the album’s dynamic tension. With Superexploder stuck on loop in my head, I can say that CIVILIANS! is a well balanced and welcome addition to NYCs evolving screamo discography.
