Listen: Frankie Rose “Street of Dreams”

frankie6241Brooklyn’s own Frankie Rose recently released “Street of Dreams,” a cover of an original by The Damned and also the second single from her upcoming album, Herein Wild. In Rose’s version, she forgoes the echoed sinister saxophone section in the intro and jumps right into the meat of the song, honing in on a synth-pop / almost Rebel Yell vibe. The goth undercurrent is still as strong as ever, but she has repurposed the original material into a compellingly modern soundscape. Particularly in the spacey and somber outro that replaces the original fever pitch of classical guitar solos, castanets, and squealing sax.  If you haven’t already, check out her first single, “Sorrow.” Be on the lookout for Herein Wild, out September 24th from Fat Possum.
