You may remember Claire Boucher, aka Grimes, from her excellent 2012 album Visions. Or, well, you might not. Grimes new song “Go” was originally written by her for Rihanna. Rihanna passed on the song, and now Boucher has made it her own. Instead of turning into a more “indie” product, she’s released it mostly as is, switching in her own vocals. While it’s completely unexpected considering her previous output, it’s a incredibly ambitious pop track. And by “pop” i mean popular in every sense of the word. It’s got some wonky dubstep moves in it reminiscent of artists like Katy Perry and, maybe less surprisingly, Rihanna. You can call it selling out if you want (and if you do that makes you an asshole), but it doesn’t make it any less of a great song, regardless of the genre you try to fit it in. Check it out below.

(In a somewhat related Rihanna note, if you aren’t following her on Twitter for her World Cup play by play you are seriously missing out)
