“Hooton Tennis Club” may sound like some exclusive, upper crust, recreational sports getaway, but this Liverpool quartet quickly dismisses any such associations with their endearing, slacker lo-fi vibes. Maybe this little irony is intentional, maybe I’m reaching. Regardless, their debut single, “Jasper,” is a charming, head-bobbing tribute to ’90s college rock, and fans of both Pavement and Yuck will jive with this one.
