As Sia’s resident hype man, I’d be remiss if Alt Citizen missed anything new from her. As you know, her new album 1000 Forms of Fear is about a month away from release. It’s her first solo album since 2010, and that is a long time to wait. I know you are all as hype as I am about “Chandeliers,” but sometimes you gotta step back a little and get introspective. That’s what Sia has done on her second single, “Eye of the Needle.”
It’s a very simple song, with a dirge level drum beat and a very minimal piano piece providing most of the backing. Sia’s voice carries the song, lifting it up and dropping it down as the emotion is needed. Compared to the relatively care free feeling of “Chandeliers,” “Eye of the Needle” is much more downtrodden, dealing with a lover that isn’t ready to let their partner go. It gets its message across quite well, and it’s a testament to the artist’s vocal abilities. Check it out below.
