Speedy Ortiz just released “Raising The Stake,” the winding, jittery first single from their upcoming album, Foil Deer. It’s clear that singer Sadie Dupuis refuses to hold back — she demands that you know she’s in charge, with a fierce chorus that kicks off with the refrain “I’m not bossy / I’m the boss / Shooter not the shot.” Their spidery guitar riffs, grunge-y dynamics, and bold yet vulnerable vocals make for an uncompromising sonic punch. Be on the look out for their full-length in the next couple of months.
