California’s psychedelic surf-rock downers The Growlers know how to get stuck in your head. Take “Humdrum Blues,” a single from their upcoming Gilded Pleasures EP, out this November from Everloving Records. It’s an organ-dominated tale of trouble in paradise, with lead singer Brooks Nielsen’s raspy crooning fighting to explain his troubles and noncommittal ways. The melody is so infectious, the groove so steady and dark, you just can’t help but want to join in on the woe. We all know misery loves company so give this one a spin.
