You may know the music and art project Young & Sick more for their artwork than their music. This includes well known cover art for artists such as Foster The People, Robin Thicke, and Maroon 5. That’s about to change. The creative force behind the project, a man simply known as Nick, started putting out sleek RnB under the Young & Sick moniker last year. Now we have an upcoming album from him, due out in April on Harvest Records. “Glass” is the first taste from that record, and it doesn’t disappoint.
It’s a bundle of synthetic sounds that fit into all the right places. Nick’s falsetto is also impressively androgynous. There are so many familiar sounds in “Glass,” but none of them overpowers the others. It’s overall feeling is the moments before the sun is completely down, with the last light barely holding on before it gives way to the darkness, and the neon signs light up at the bars and clubs. Listen below.
Young & Sick is out April 8th on Harvest.
