“I don’t wanna be a sucker/But sometimes I am,” a relatable opening line for a song that’s comfortably 80s in its synth sounds and electric drums. For someone who comes from a psych-rock past, Dräger so effortlessly falls into what he self-describes as his guilty pleasure: dance music.
His first single, “Wolf,” doesn’t elicit feelings of guilt, but some of nostalgia nestled nicely somewhere between carefree cliché and a clean, fresh breath of air.
Dräger plays tonight, 7/18, at Gran Torino – catch him there and listen everywhere.
