Playlist: 1967 Après Ski

This playlist will transport you to an era of wooden skis and vibrant nylon insulators. It’s 1967; the summer of love has come to an end and the winter of shredding has begun. You’re first on the mountain after a season-changing snowstorm, decked out in your racing red jumpsuit. You scope out your route on the lift ride up, full of intent and perhaps overzealous ambition. A powder day like this can’t be wasted on any green runs. Atop the grand mountain, you peer down at your exhilarating destiny and deeply inhale the crisp alpine air.

Filled with anticipation and excitement you tip your skis down the hill and surrender to what the white boundless landscape has in store. As your body accelerates, gravity becomes your engine and your leather boots, the wheel. Fresh powder climbs up to your torso as you carve your wooden planks against the mountain.

Your body and heart rate accelerate in tandem as you glide over the slick grooves, mountains your canvas, snow your medium. You lean hard into your turns, breaking a sweat, and thankfully so as the weather is about as cold as the current war. This pattern continued throughout the day until your legs mimicked the consistency of last month’s holiday gelatin.

After a proper wobble to the aprés bar, you order your shaken martini so you can cause a stir. Prize in hand, you retreat into the warmth of the cozy logs to toast with friends: to an unforgettable day conquering the alpine  summit with thy fellow slope comrades.
