Solo projects are always a gamble. The entire point of being part of a group is that each member adds something that the others lack, so when one decides to strike out on their own there is the possibility that their music will lack in something that initially drew you to the group in the first place.
I am happy to say that this is not the case with Sienna, formerly of Johnny Ain’t Bad. Her debut single “Tell Me Everything” is a hypnotic, ambient earworm of a track, and while it is entirely unique in its sound, it is not lacking in of the listenability that her former group has.
Perhaps that is because Sienna possesses a truly incredible voice of her own. With the throaty alto of a 90’s rocker chick and the sensual musicality of 20’s lounge singer, Sienna is perfectly capable of being a favorite artist, with or without any surrounding talents.
