Look, a lot of people are gonna say that the best thing to come out of Houston is Beyoncé. I disagree, the greatest thing to come from Houston is Jody Christian aka RiFF RAFF. Can you picture Beyoncé “critiqueing” work at Art Basel with so little self awareness? No. There is a reason James Franco and Harmony Korine stole his identity for Spring Breakers. His colorful exterior (literally, look at all those outfits and tattoos) is next to nothing compared to what comes out the white boy with corn row’s mouth. Should we call him the world’s best social media performance artist? Riff Raff is a pretty mehtacular rapper, where he truly shines is through his constant stream of Vine videos. Seriously his six second videos have proved to entertain me more than some feature length films. Here are the top Vines from the Golden Alien himself.
10. Frequently, Riff uses other people (usually strangers) as the stars of his Vines. That’s what happens in this case except the stranger in question is a sleeping woman on a plane. There are SO many ways this could be used as a horrible punchline, but Riff Raff uses it to his advantage in a super cute way.
9. A Vine of citrus water? Okay. The funny thing here is Riff Raff’s pronunciation of water as “wawda.” Like every great comedian, he knows that a specific enunciation/pronunciation of a word is enough to make ‘em laugh.
8. Part of Riff Raff’s genius is the fact that he knows he can manipulate his vines into a series. There are various “Real Boy” vines but this one about him not being able to eat anything from his mini bar because he’s not a real boy is just hilarious.
7. Sometimes the funniest part of his Vine is the title, take this one for example: “i FUCK AROUND AND BE DONE SWAM TO YA.”
