Sofia Bolt delivers fresh slacker rock on “All She Wants”

Fusing sleek, cool guitar riffs with mellowed vocals, Sofia Bolt paints a musical landscape all her own on “All She Wants.” Originally from Paris, Sofia Bolt (aka Amelie Rousseaux) moved to Los Angeles in early 2017. Her French origins can be heard on the track, in its delicate vocals, while her new California side is heard in its slack-rock instrumentals. Recorded with Michael Harris at Electro Vox, the track is a fresh take on surf rock, examining the more emotional side. Along with the track is an enamoring music video, with surreal animation by Jenna Caravello and artwork by Clare Byrne. It’s otherworldly, with a style all its own, similar to “All She Wants.” Regarding the track and video, Rousseaux said, “During this quarantine I have been most in need of lightness, positivity and human relations. Jenna Caravello had created these cyborg lady and pigeon cop characters. We decided to unite them for an ‘All She Wants’ dance party bringing to life my desires of more weirdness in these surreal times.” Caravello added, “I’d been drawing these characters for weeks alone in quarantine. Amelie and I decided, here is a good opportunity to throw them a little virtual dance party.”

Sofia Bolt’s debut album, Waves, was created with a fantastic troop of seasoned rockers, consisting of Emily Elhaj (Angel Olsen), Marian Lipino (La Luz), Bryant Fox (Miya Folick), and Itai Shapira (Rhye).

In addition to her recent writing, Rousseaux also recently created a 22 minute piece of music for  Hedi Slimane’s new show for Celine at Women’s Fashion Week in Paris.
