Song Premiere: Ziemba “El Paso”

Ziemba, the performance moniker of Brooklyn-based sound/performing artist and musician René Kladzyk, crafts hypnotizing, experimental pop, and her innovative music and artwork have been featured everywhere from the French Institute in Fez, Morocco and Secret Project Robot to Broad City. Now, we have the pleasure of premiering her driving new single “El Paso,” which comes straight off her soon to be released digital mixtape A Pure Mirror and a Damn Prison.

Having partly grown up in El Paso and Ciudad Juárez, Ziemba says her deep personal connection to the borderlands and these two interconnected cities helped inspire the kinetic song. Powered by restless bass riffs, interwoven synth lines, and robust vocals, “El Paso” continuously snowballs in intensity, giving way to lush, powerful choruses. This song swirls with dark poetics, and you can’t help but imagine red earth beneath your feet, as far as the eye can see.

Ziemba starts her east coast tour with Dean Cercone tomorrow in Philly at  W/N W/N. Check the Facebook event for dates and venues.

A Pure Mirror and a Damn Prison is available tomorrow, June 25 via Bandcamp, as well at her shows and Alt Space.
