There are only two albums that I can recommend this week, and that is mostly my fault for not being able to listen to more of the week’s releases. So enjoy those two below! Though I only listened to about three songs from it, If You Leave by Daughters is also something you should check out.

You can read my even more excited review of English Little League by Guided By Voices here. Seriously though, even someone who is a casual listener or has never heard of this band would enjoy this indie rock birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese of an album!
The fact that I picked up a “THR!!!ER” emblazoned sticker at this weekend’s Record Fair seems to be a not-so-subtle sign that I would love !!!’s latest. Slick intro “Even When The Water’s Cold” is like the club kids version of Romeo and Juliet. “Fine Fine Fine” has enough existential crises in it to make Jean-Paul Sartre cringe but it’s still a great dance track. !!! definitely live up to the hype that an album title copped from one of Michael Jackson’s greatest albums carries with it. My favorite track is definitely “Californiyeah,” an ode to my home state that serves to defend the Golden State from all the East Coast naysayers. Hell yeah.
Watch:
If you’re into indie rock masochism, here’s The National in their 4th hour of the 6 hours they performed at MOMA PS1 this weekend.
Here’s some uppers in the form of the beautiful and amazing Janelle Monae and Erykah Badu.
Kalae Nouveau has a perfect tune for a lazy summer day.

Adam Yauch passed away a year ago this Saturday. Consequence of Sound has a more poetic tribute to him than I could ever write.
BUT! Yay a park was named after him this weekend. I visited it with my boyfriend and oh man, emotions.
