Take a dose of whatever kind of hallucinogenic drug Wine Lips is emulating with their newest LP Mushroom Death Sex Bummer Party. LSD, ayahuasca, mushrooms — whatever it is, it’s strong. You’ll be going up, down, side to side, feeling happy, sad, and will probably even end up chugging a few beers with some other dimensional beings. Fierce lyrics cut right through while wavy melodies blend together with stabs of distortion. Through your ears, some tracks will provide you with moments of transcendental bliss while others get you ready to rage the night away.
High energy music is no stranger to Wine Lips. The Canadian rockers’ 2017 self-titled debut album set the stage for exactly that. Now, Mushroom Death Sex Bummer Party — the third full-length from the group — shows just how much this band has perfected their sound. The intro song alone, “Eyes,” instantly has epic intensity. Fast and punchy, it kicks the album right off as something you need to buckle up for. It even already has a trashy/ murderous music video to go along with it.
“Mushroom Death Sex Bummer Party took us the better part of a year to complete,” guitarist/vocalist Cam Hilborn says. “We spent a lot of time writing, demoing songs, and rehearsing to get it just right and we’re quite happy with the end results!”
