Movie Spotlight: Take This Waltz
In this beautiful yet subtle take on relationships and adulthood, Michelle Williams stars as Margot, a twenty-eight-year-old aspiring writer married to Lou (Seth Rogen), a jovial author of chicken cookbooks. When Margot meets her neighbor Daniel (Luke Kirby), their mutual attraction is instant and tangible. Writer/director Sarah Polley’s painfully honest portrayal of marriage and attraction will either offend or resonate with viewers, while each vibrant candy-colored shot of stolen glances and genuinely sweet moments makes them that much more poignant and relatable. Michelle Williams is simply riveting throughout, and Seth Rogen gives an empathetic performance as her husband who radiates warmth and understanding. Though Take This Waltz isn’t your conventional romance or drama, it will make you examine your own relationships, lust, love, and life.
