Collages by Enne Goldstein, you can find more of their work here
After “Bed Music” was released Winter 2019, I obsessively listened to the EP for weeks while angsty smoking a cig on my walk to get some film developed for class. I remember swaying my head saying “I am a dum dum” while too attempting to reflect on past relationships where I still felt unbelievably fucking lonely. All to say, Poppies has been on my radar since their single “Mistakes” was released in 2016, and their progression into a much rockier, playful bedroom groove has me absolutely ~vibing~ to my faults and insecurities. They’ve been playing a lot of shows around NYC/Brooklyn area and I really truly think y’all need to hop on it and #gettothegig next time they play, which can be found on their Instagram.
Alas, I’ve put together these lyric collages displaying their hardass, melodic aesthetic masking some darker thoughts and feelings that may as well have directly come out of lead singer May’s journal. Not to mention, how genuinely sweet her style is.
