It’s been about a week or so since Charly Bliss released the first video since their new album Young Enough has been in our hands, and I can’t stop thinking about it.
CB’s videos are always pretty close to perfect, something familiar enough, but a few notches removed from the expected and nowhere near mundane. Also always impressively cinematic. The video for the title track is the perfect post-album release gem, solidifying the success of this record and all of the things it makes you feel. Eva Hendricks’ voice brightly singing “we’re young enough to think it should hurt this much” in a freezing field with a smirk on her face tells you everything you need to know.
I got chills watching this — it’s such a good pop song with a beautiful build, and the toying with time frames it flawlessly. It’s as much of a ballad as you’d want from them, at least with this album and the energy it oozes. You can feel Hendricks setting herself free from her shitty relationships and settling into her prowess as a killer songwriter. Guppy was great, but Young Enough has this electricity about it that sets it apart. Watch it for yourself (and then get lost in their YouTube goldmine):
