Watch: Danny Brown “Dip”

If you had to choose to do MDMA with one artist, Danny Brown probably wouldn’t be too far from the top of the list. While the odds of this actually happening in real life are slim, Brown has treated us to a “what if?” scenario in his video for “Dip”. “Dip” is off Brown’s much anticipated album Old, in stores October 8th. Director Rollo Jackson keeps the video very basic, letting Brown’s mannerism both on stage and off speak for themselves. The video is layered with animation throughout, making the watcher feel like they’re tripping along with Brown. It’s a great fit for Brown’s style and works perfectly for the song. The video matches Brown so well that I honestly believe this is how his life is most of the time.

The song itself only makes the anticipation for Old even stronger. Brown’s style is oftentimes at its best when he’s grandstanding, and he does enough of it on this song to make it a great track. The SKYWLKR produced beat acts as a perfect background theme not only for Brown’s flow but for the subject matter. It has a strange, alluringly electronic flair that feels uneven and knocks you off your equilibrium.

“Like Lieutenant Dan, I’m Rollin’”

Enough Said.

Old is out via Fool’s Gold October 8th and is streaming on Spotify beginning September 30th.
