Watch: Ducks Ltd. “Under the Rolling Moon”

There’s an intimacy in simplicity. To watch someone simply be rather than putting on a show is no less interesting and all the more telling. In their latest music video, “Under the Rolling Moon”, Ducks Ltd. do exactly that. We see a slice of life as the band drives through the desert, strum their guitars casually, and lament not being able to pull a friend out of their self-destructive patterns.

‘Under The Rolling Moon’ is about trying to be there for a friend who is in a moment of crisis,” says singer Tom McGreevy. “Some of the frustration maybe of witnessing someone else’s extremely recognizable self-defeating behaviour, but mostly just the feeling of caring for them, knowing they can be ok and hoping that they can find their way to seeing that.”

“Under the Rolling Moon” is a very relatable story that rarely gets told. Because of the manner the video was shot in, it feels increasingly more personal to both the artists and the listener/viewer as well. Of the video, directed by Ambar Navarro and Max Flick, the band shared they were, “kinda aiming to make something that feels like a low to mid budget video in 1985, loosely inspired by some of the Cure videos and the video for Grant McLennan’s ‘Easy Come Easy Go.’ I feel like there is something about the awkwardness of early music videos, before people really knew what they were supposed to be or how they were supposed to act in them, that neatly dovetails with our own inherent awkwardness.”

The track is off their debut album, Modern Fiction, on October 1st via Carpark Records. You can keep up with the band on Bandcamp, FacebookInstagram, and Twitter
