Los Angeles-rooted outfit, Local Natives, tickled our ears and our eyes with the release of their music video for “Ceilings” this week. Directed and produced by recently added bassist, Nik Ewing, the 3-minute video acts as a behind-the-scenes snapshot into the band’s life on the road.
The boys started their current tour before their sophomore album, Hummingbird, was released in late January of this year. Local Natives have hardly had time for a little R&R but that doesn’t mean they’ve forgotten how to blow off some steam. Ewing’s artistic eye portrays the band in a more intimate light, catching their playfulness during the quiet (and maybe not so quiet) moments of their tour.
The muted colors and home-movie styling of “Ceilings” narrate Local Natives’ journey from one country to another, through museums trips and music festivals, frolicking down foreign streets and passing time in airports. It’s a brief glimpse into the band’s brotherly dynamic that boasts of just how fun they’d be to wreak in some harmless havoc with.
