The way Jeff Goldblum has unintentionally cemented himself in multiple pieces of music is pretty impressive. His impact is clearly not to be underestimated. His latest appearance is in the 80s inspired “Jeff Goldblum” by Mattiel.
Mattiel even shares that her crush on Goldblum is a very real one at that. “He inspired the words,” she shared, “but this is more of a dream where a Jeff look-a-like meets me in a bathroom.”
The music video for the song is comprised of two retro Goldblum films, initially making the viewer think that he might be in on this joke/admiration, but it’s more fun that he doesn’t know. “Jeff Goldblum” also falls in line with two musical trends that seem to be making a comeback as the need for joy and celebration progressively increases — 80s nostalgia and danceability. It’s a fun track that makes you want to move, and while we all love some abrasive and angular post punk, it’s nice that a sense of playfulness is being celebrated.
“Jeff Goldblum” is the first track off the newly announced Georgia Gothic out March 18, 2022.
