Monsterwatch’s “Somewhere” is an electric trek towards your own demise. Repetitive and pulsating, the single hammers home amongst shrieks and screams that once you give in, there”s no going back.
Despite having “monster” in their name, the band usually shies away from anything too on the nose. “Somewhere” is as close as they get with a horror themed video complete with slenderman like figures trapping a trucker-esque character in a multi-stairway building with no escape. In contrast to the screaming chorus, the verses are almost hypnotic in nature — like getting lost “somewhere” wasn’t necessarily your own idea, but the powers that be that lulled you into it. The final moments spiral out of control in a complete breakdown instrumentally and in what would be an all out combustion in a live setting of flying guitars and full body writhing.
*strobe warning*
“Somewhere” follows up on the band’s most recent single “Lick The Wall” and will be featured on their forthcoming EP Noise You Will Never Care About out June 14. Keep up with the band and what’s to come next via their instagram.
