Brooklyn sad boys The Antlers will be following up 2011’s excellent Burst Apart in June with a much anticipated new album. The album is titled Familiars and will see release on ANTI in the US and Transgressive in the UK. The band also released a video for the first song we’ve heard from the album, titled “Palace.”
The song feels like a logical continuation of what the band unleashed on Burst Apart. It has the same low key, emotional feel of that album. The song is best described as haunting, and the video conveys this same feeling. It slowly takes us through a destroyed house, an apt metaphor if there ever was one. “Palace” has a weight to it that only The Antlers have been able to do without feeling overwrought.
