Last October, Noah Kardos-Fein and Dale Eisenger unleashed their particular brand of genius to the world in the form of Process, their debut album as YVETTE. On their first record the newcomers from Brooklyn prove to be boundless sonic experimentalists, taking listeners from haunted pasts to dystopian futures through their combinations of powerful drum tracks and harsh synth and guitar tracks with eerie, reverberating vocals. The bizarre imagery of the video for “Everything in Reverse” superbly brings the unearthly, hypnotic sound of the song to life, featuring a series of black and white clips that appear in reverse but ultimately become difficult to read or completely shapeless. Industrial exhaust is sucked back into smokestacks, cars move backwards on a bridge, and dark bodies of water morph into static, ultimately making regression and progress indistinguishable to the viewer. Have your mind blown by the video below.
Progress is out now on Godmode Records.
