We finally saw Dehd at Brooklyn Made

With Dehd’s Flower of Devotion coming out mid-pandemic, we had to wait a waaay-too-long time to see them live. But it finally happened earlier this month at Brooklyn Made, and they didn’t disappoint.

Armed with nothing but a Fujifilm disposable in a very dark room, I watched as Emily Kempf, covered in body gems on top of her tattoos, made it all look so ridiculously easy. Jason Balla across the stage countered Emily’s calmer, subtler but still raucous energy by bouncing all over with his bright green guitar (to match the deluxe LP I’ve been staring at so longingly all these months), and drummer Eric McGrady stood stoically at his half kit. It was all pretty elated, bathed in colorful low light and a foggy, packed room.
