Garbage was just one of many artists getting in on Record Store Day’s vinyl love fest, which sadly comes but one day a year. The band released two stellar tracks for the occasion: “Girls Talk” and “Time Will Destroy Everything.” The former, a punchy duet with the Distillers’ Brody Dalle, was just given 21st century treatment in the form of a simple music video.
“Girls Talk” finds Garbage lead vocalist Shirley Mason side by side Brody Dalle in the studio, sharing one lucky mic. The song opens with a distorted and phased out guitar riff that serves as the eventual backbone to what is one tremendously explosive chorus. Much like the verses, the video itself is super minimal: just black and white shots of the duo in the studio killing it (though the two share a quick, I’m-really-fucking-feeling-this kiss at the 1:54 mark). Clearly, the two want the music to speak for itself, and the combination of the song’s steady dark pulse with Dalle’s goosebump-inducing growls does just that. If you ever been fed up with everyday catty bullshit, this one is for you.
