The name King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard shares a similar kind of peculiarity with such sixties psyche mainstays as Country Joe & the Fish — which one might expect from a paragon of the psychedelic music scene in Australia. The first track from their upcoming album Quarters! is typically rough strewn psyche rock, featuring the same lo-fi production values in style of its native peers. While it may draw comparisons to big guns Tame Impala and Pond, King Gizzard’s “God Is In The Rhythm” manages its own personal charm. It’s out this May via Castle Face.
